About Us

BEN

I am old enough to know what I like and I like anything cult related. No, that doesn't mean I like Scientology. Basically I like geeky/nerdy stuff and I aint afraid to admit it. Be it a book, comic, film, game or fracking toaster, if it's got a sci-fi or fantasy twist to it I will give it a shake. I have been podcasting for over two years now and this is the second incarnation of Climbing Shrimp Productions. I am very happy with the new look and I hope you all like it!

MARC

Right, where to start with me. I am a huge dork and some say I look like Jesus. Minus the robes and the crowds of people following me. I have been an actor all my life and now I am turning my 'talents' to podcasting, maybe I have the face for radio.

Temeraire a mini series by Peter Jackson?

The Temeraire series of books by Naomi Novik are a captivating Fantasy series with the simple premise of the Napoleonic war, but with Dragons!

They are everything you want in a good fantasy story, grounded, great characters, gritty and realistic, but with that beautifully rendered fantasy slant that helps transport you back to a world of what if.

But, while I highly recommend you check out the 5 (of 9) books that are out, I also want to tell you that it looks like Peter Jackson wants to turn the series into a TV, HBO style mini series.

AICN had the scoop:

"Yes. She's now starting to whisper to me that she's going to be writing 9 books in the Temeraire series. I can't see any degree of common sense in trying to mount them one at a time as feature films. To me the stories, having read the first ones, already work as this continuing, on-going saga, so I'm thinking "Is there a marketplace out there yet for a large budget mini-series?"

I guess you'd think of things like HBO and you'd think of Band of Brothers and that sort of thing, but it'd be different than that. The market's changing so much, TV networks are changing, so I'm thinking is there actually a market out there that'd give us the budget to do this properly and allow us to shoot this as a 6, 7 or 8 part series where we have freedom, we have great production values and are able to tackle it as the epic saga that it deserves.

I just can't see doing one expensive movie and if that's successful you get to do another one, but if the second one isn't quite as good maybe there'll never be a third one... I just don't see that fitting with the property at all."

Sounds good huh, now go out and read the books and see what I am talking about.
